Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Blinds Lasting Longer
Here’s the thing about blinds: most people don’t think about how they use them… until something snaps, cords fray, or mechanisms jam up. Then it’s too late. But if you take care of the small stuff, your window treatments can last years longer and save you from repair calls.
So let’s talk about a simple trick that makes a huge difference 👇
Tip #1 – Don’t Just Yank the Cord
If you’ve got corded blinds (yes, even though they’re technically outlawed, we know plenty of you still have them, we get called all the time to fix them), here’s the move:
When you’re raising the blind, don’t just pull the cord straight up and let the whole weight drag on that string. That’s how cords tear and mechanisms wear out.
Instead, use two hands:
One hand pulls the cord like normal.
The other hand slides under the blind itself and gives it a gentle lift while you pull.
That little bit of support takes the stress off the cord and keeps everything running smooth.
It might not feel like a big deal, but this tiny habit can be the difference between blinds that last a couple years… and blinds that last a decade.
